Previous work experience-
Assistant Professor (February 2016- February 2019)
At the NMIMS Sunandan Divatia School of Science I was Assistant Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences. I was doing research on human induced pluripotent and human embryonic stem cells and received funding from NMIMS and Department of Science & Technology (Govt of India) to carry out my work.
I taught undergraduates, graduates and pre PhD students various topics such as – cell and developmental biology, molecular biology, neurobiology, evolution & adaptation, metabolism & metabolomics and genomics.
Senior Research Officer (September 2015- February 2016)
National Burns Centre is a charity run hospital which deals exclusively with all types of burns injuries. I worked in the skin regeneration lab, my work included both scientific and administrative duties. Administrative duties included – mentoring research staff & writing up projects for funding. Successfully registered National Burns Centre with DSIR (Department of Science and Industrial Research, Govt of India).
Employee Trainee (June 2007- October 2008)
Worked in the Diabetes Lab in the Pharmacology Department of Piramal Life Sciences Pvt Ltd. in Mumbai. Projects in Diabetes lab headed by Dr. Rosalind Marita were directed towards development of drugs for metabolic syndromes like diabetes and obesity.
Interests: I enjoy reading works of Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Richard Feynman, Sashi Tharoor, Michael Wood, Nick Lane, Mary Roach, VS Ramachandran, Issac Asimov, Matt Ridley, Siddharta Mukherjee. I love reading science non fiction books.
I am fan of Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars and many animated films, as well as of the music in these films.
I am big fan of National Geographic and Animal Planet.
